LADIES FIRST 🤮

LADIES FIRST is a satirical look at what our world could look like if women were in charge. It was a predictable movie, with the outcome clearly constructed.  I felt no empathy for the main male character, who was put through the wringer. I truly did not care if he matured or stayed the same indulgent, chauvinistic, egotistical brat, even though I knew in my gut that the writers would make it all work out perfectly in the end.

Damian (Sasha Baron Cohen) is an acquired taste. He has never been my cup of tea, but his acting in this film is much calmer than his usual fanfare. This was good. Alex (Rosamund Pike) had a far more intriguing storyline until the end. Happily ever after can go in many different directions. What a loss.

LADIES FIRST was not a great use of my viewing time. The natural two-word response,  “after you,” should have been the first thing I uttered cack.  It would have reminded me that accepting a pass is always another option.

It is streaming on Netflix.
