INVINCIBLE S2 PART II 🤩

The second part of INVINCIBLE sticks the landing… for the most part. THE BOYS style animated violence is on full display, but that doesn’t take away from the fact this show is a very different kind of superhero series. Whereas THE BOYS is mostly about double-crossing and fun action, INVINCIBLE is much more thoughtful. Most of the characters in INVINCIBLE have superpowers on the outside, yet emotionally, they are fragile. That fragility is explored through Mark and Debbie Grayson’s vulnerability. Seeing each of them have to take responsibility for Nolan’s actions is rewarding and sobering.

Where INVINCIBLE’s second season fails is that it needs a worthy big bad outside of Angstrom, whose character is interesting as a B-story line but not the main E8 showdown. It’s as though Robert Kirkman and his team purposedly are delaying the Viltrumite plot to prolong the series. I fear Kirkman might use the same tactics he utilized on THE WALKING DEAD, where that series took forever to get to big reveals. However, I have hope since the second part of this season was so damn emotionally satisfying.

The second season of INVINCIBLE is available to stream on Prime Video.
