I AM: CELINE DION is a documentary that will pull the heartstrings of her fans. It is a poignant, deep look into what this iconic legend is trying to overcome in her battle against Stiff Person Syndrome. SPS is an extremely rare neuromuscular disease that attacks only one person in a million. It is a debilitating sickness that shows no mercy.
The film showcased Celine’s life with clips and personal recollections. Audiences were treated to a vast array of her past concerts, hit songs, and a tour of her wardrobe warehouse where all her premiere and stage dresses are stored. It was such a contrast to sitting with Celine in her home while resting today. Seeing and listening to her talk without any makeup and her hair pulled tightly in a bun also added to the rawness and realistic picture of the SPS toll. I wanted to reach out and give her a gentle hug as she struggled to find her voice again and again.
Celine wanted the world to understand what she had been going through, and that she will never give up. Performing is everything to her. It is the “conductor of her life.” She misses us as much as we miss her.
I AM: CELINE DION demonstrates what fortitude and courage look and feel like. She is a brave role model, and after watching and listening, I am hopeful and surrounding her with love. It is streaming on Prime Video.
