HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, like its predecessor, wavers between political intrigue and gratuitous violence. It’s just that, in GAME OF THRONES, these plots would usually vary, depending on the storyline we were following. The Lannisters and Baratheons were doing SUCCESSION while Arya, Daenerys, and Jon Show were burning, beheading, and butchering.
In HotD, it’s all Targaryen, 24/7, adding a layer of complexity to the unfolding story. Finally, we get our first wedding episode, which lives up to the drama bar we’ve come to expect. We’re still in plot-setting mode, but this episode felt like a significant moment between Alicent and Rhaenyra. This episode cleverly shifted our perspectives on certain characters, making us question who we’re rooting for. Still have no idea what to think about Daemon.
