HOME ECONOMICS S2E18 & 19 🤮 😊

HOME ECONOMICS - “Animatronic Gorilla, $2,200” – As Tom struggles to finish his book before his 40th birthday, his dad, Marshall (Phil Reeves), hijacks his writing seminar. Meanwhile, Denise convinces Marina that she needs to do something special for Tom’s 40th and talks her into doing boudoir photos. In addition, Sarah and Denise go overboard to impress a potential sperm donor on an all-new “Home Economics,” WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13 (9:31-10:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (ABC/Temma Hankin) HOME ECONOMICS

Episode 18 of HOME ECONOMICS had multiple plot lines taking center stage. Guest star, Mark Cuban, couldn’t even elevate this “ordinary” script.

There isn’t much I can say without giving away the entire story. The writers are just having fun with the siblings and their relationships to each other. Was it predictable? Somewhat. Was it funny? Somewhat. Was it worth watching? Only if you are a bat fan and love Dustin. (Orangutans forever!)

This week HOME ECONOMICS was a more fun and a poignant episode that featured Tom (Topher Grace) turning 40.  It is a milestone birthday for many men. How they deal with that number all depends on where they are in their life.

Tom wanted to be finished writing his book by this momentous occasion. He wanted the day to be low-key, but as usual, his siblings have other ideas. What I enjoyed most was having their dad around again. I love the generational humor among the family. This segment was definitely a step-up from last week’s writing and storyline.

HOME ECONOMICS continues to be a hit-and-miss series this season. It is questionable if they will be renewed again. There is a place for this type of situation comedy. I just don’t know when or if they will ever find their permanent groove.

HOME ECONOMICS is available to stream on ABC Television.
