HELLO TOMORROW! is peddling lies. Every scene, dialogue, and relationship is on the brink of catastrophe due to the power and control of money. It is like watching an explosion about to happen, or as Joey’s mom puts it…ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER APOCALYPSE.
The writers are allowing the entire ensemble to “bend the rules” if “they are doing something good.” I am not sure I agree with this theory, and it is, at times, cringeworthy to watch. Joey (Billy Crudup) and Shirley (Haneefah Wood) play off each other extremely well. They are like one person glued together, sharing reactions, insights, and consequences. Barbara (Jacki Weaver) is a hoot. This woman can get under your skin. She is an emotional passive/aggressive mom, for sure. Joey does not have a chance.
HELLO TOMORROW! is becoming melodramatic in content and pacing. The s*** is about to hit the fan. Where are you, Stanley Jenkins? I am as confused as ever about where this will end, yet I am still watching. It is available to stream on Apple TV+.
