HEADS OF STATE 😊

HEADS OF STATE is pure escapism. It is fun, slightly predictable, humorous, and an action-packed adventure to the very last frame. It does make a few references to today’s current political scene. Still, the writers and actors have ensured it is simply a romp through a wild and crazy suspension of disbelief, allowing us to enjoy the ride.

The two leading men are perfectly cast. John Cena and Idris Elba are a match made in Hollywood heaven.  They play the American President and the English Prime Minister with pizazz.  Their quiet moments were thoughtful, and their fight scenes were outrageous. Could this movie have happened in real life? Not a chance, but hurray for silliness when aching for lighter film fare. I will never look at a tomato or a fire truck in the same way again. Cena and Elba’s timing hit my sarcastic funny bone with gusto. The duo just got better and better with each stupid joke. They reminded me of two teens trying to assert their power while going through puberty. What could go wrong?

The ensemble added to the zaniness as well, which includes Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Jack Quaid. Their fight sequences kept me in stitches. The locations were colorful and well-chosen. It would have been a blast zooming through Europe using and destroying so many modes of transportation. What fun.

HEADS OF STATE cannot be taken seriously. I can’t imagine their blooper reel, especially when dealing with baby goats. In all honesty, I enjoyed this entertaining film more than I had expected to. It left me smiling.

HEADS IF STATE is streaming on Prime Video.
