GEEK GIRL S1 SEASON REVIEW 🤩

GEEK GIRL is a coming-of-age, self-discovery series that is funny, sarcastic, and wildly entertaining. Harriet Manners, (Emily Carey) an awkward teen, was born to walk the runway only she never saw herself in that light. Luck, loved ones, and very raw talent had other plans for her future.Ā

This is a story that most can relate to throughout a lifetime. The writers nailed several themes including lack of confidence, first boyfriend, girl friendships, bullying, parental control, and discoveries of new adventures. Every episode was filled with hilarious and cringeworthy moments from our youth. This is what made Harriet relatable, fresh, British, and authentic.Ā Ā Kudos to fast-paced, short installments that were memorable and special.Ā

The entire ensemble was sheer perfection. Wilbur,Ā Ā (Emanuel Imani) and Nick (Liam Woodrum) were a delight. Both had huge, wise, hot, emotional arcs that were expressed expertly, but for very different outcomes. It was a hook to watch everyone surround Harriet with their wisdom, silliness, and patience. I was particularly intrigued by the zany antics of Harriet’s Dad, The talented acting chops of Toby, and the demanding Yuji Lee. (What a powerhouse of a look!) Audiences will be enthralled every step of the way.Ā

ā€œMagic comes when you least expect it,ā€ and it is true that ā€œstories don’t end just because you stop reading.ā€ These words project the positive direction and brilliance of GEEK GIRL. It is a show that fabulously hits a nerve no matter how old or young you are. It is streaming on Netflix.Ā Ā
