Those that have followed along this season know that I have an āitās complicatedā relationship status with FOR ALL MANKIND. In season 2, Iāve given 4 š¤©, 3 š , and 3 š¤®. Itās infuriatingly inconsistent āmust-seeā TV.
I found myself on āthe bleeding edgeā of abandoning this show as āevery little thingā just wasnāt working. Some might have told me ādonāt be cruelā and trust that the ābest-laid plansā would carry āthe weightā of āpathfinder.ā Yet the show miraculously duct tapes itself together to return from ātriageā with an exciting ārules of engagementā conclusion.
Thereās so much to love in Ronald D. Mooreās ambitious space soap opera, but thereās also a lot to dislike. Season 2 shouldāve been shortened to 7 episodes. If they trimmed the repeating themes of Karen being a āKaren,ā Gordo drinking too much, and minimized the soapbox monologues we couldāve seen a perfect season 2. This show can fix its faults and easily become one of the best series not just on Apple TV+, but in all of streaming.
Every character in this series wants āto do something in their life and make a difference in the world.ā Thatās enough of a gravitational pull for audiences to care about during the awful āgreyā mid-season. If they do, they will come out on top with the best emotional action-packed finale on TV this year.
So, āhereās to youā FOR ALL MANKIND. Youāve given me a lot this season to shout at, applaud, and even š. I will ācome as I amā for season 3 with Ennis Del Marās sentiment from BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN ā āI wish I knew how to quit you.ā
Itās available on Apple TV+.
