EXPATS is set in Hong Kong and follows several women after a life-changing event. It is built upon a tragedy so all-consuming that pushes the scenario forward to learn more about the flawed, and very human characters.Â
Nicole Kidman stars as Margaret who lays the foundation with her brilliant acting. Sarayu Blue as Hillary adds more layers to her frustrating marriage. They are a powerful duo that juxtaposes a story about living in a foreign country for American women. It becomes a neurotic mess to find the balance while still staying true to who they are and dream of becoming.Â
EXPATS shared the character’s back story early on. I think the writers were correctly empowering audiences to feel the emotional highs, lows, and eventual consequences. The cinematographer showcased the excitement, intensity, and dangers of the city. It was a huge contrast to the lives within all the massive apartment buildings.Â
EXPATS might be an emotional rollercoaster in episodes yet to air. For now, it is a well-done series that might pique your interest. It is streaming on Prime Video.
