DAVE S2E4, KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR 😊

As we watch Lil Dicky explain to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar why his rap career is so important, Kareem responds, “That’s probably the most artistic excuse for being narcissistic I’ve ever heard.” If watching a narcissist comedian is your idea of a good time, DAVE is for you. But, for me, I’m starting to realize DAVE might have turned a corner towards not being a redeemable human being.

Even with Lil Dicky’s disgusting character, I can’t help but laugh at his observational humor. After all, the show’s created by Jeff CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM Schaffer and Greg SUPERBAD Mottola. So the laughs come in waves. Moments like Lil Dicky asking Kareem, “how do you pick a Muslim name?” Or questioning why we call it a wife beater yet we do not call a sweatshirt a rapist. It’s just a bummer these funny moments come in between watching Lil Dicky be, for lack of a better word, such a dick.

At one point, Ally (Taylor Misiak) tells him, “Even when I loved you, I did not like you.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. Even when I love moments of DAVE season 2, I do not like him.

It’s available on FX.
