DAISY JONES AND THE SIX S1 E1-3 😊 

DAISY JONES AND THE SIX is based on the New York Times best-selling book series written by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It is filmed in an interview style, along with flashback narrative stories about a rock band’s arise and fall. Of course, there is sex, drugs, and alcohol.  

DAISY Jones (Riley Keough) is fantastic. She holds the heart of this tale and has the singing pipes that showcase power and attention. On a side note, Riley is the Granddaughter of the legendary Elvis. The girl can sing and can transport us to dark places. Sam Claflin portrays Billy Dunne with equal amounts of bravado and sex appeal. He is the leader of THE SIX, and his masculine chemistry oozes on every frame. The two of them together seem unstoppable until they aren’t. 

The first three episodes gave viewers the backstories necessary to understand the world of rock and roll. It is made clear the life of a touring band is difficult, fraught with drinking, doing drugs, and living in constant loneliness. A musician’s lifestyle is not for the weak. Staying on track and living your authentic life may not be in the forecast. The writers have set the stage for what’s to come. It is intriguing and entertaining. 

I thoroughly enjoyed the background music thrown in throughout each installment. It was like turning back a time clock and reliving my radio listening days. The costumes and locations were also a blast from the past. Revisiting the “strip” in LA will make some nostalgic. 

DAISY JONES AND THE SIX are just warming up. “HONEYCOMB” is just the opener. I already have my front-row tickets to see where the journey leads its audience. It is available to stream on AMAZON PRIME.
