CHIEF OF WAR will need audiences’ attention because the actors only speak in their native language for both of the two premiere episodes. Closed Captions are a must (or viewers can choose English AD and have all the dialogue read by voiceover). It might take away from hearing the staring actors recite their lines, but the show moves quickly, so it might be too tough to take in all the sights, actions, and words at once.Â
CHIEF OF WAR is an epic tale about prophecy and the unification of the Hawaiian Islands through the perspective of Indigenous people. It was created and co-written by Jason Momoa, who also portrays the leading role of Ka’iana.  It is a tense, action driven adventure; with a colorful backdrop of bloody battles with ancient weaponry. The costumes are authentic and minimal – be prepared for ample butt viewing. I am amazed how unscathed those behinds were during the fighting scenes.Â
CHIEF OF WAR is intriguing. It is the same story as many countrys’. Greed, ego, and power are the true rulers. It is very well-done, and if you like learning about the art of war, this one will keep a tight grip on your brain and heart.Â
CHIEF OF WAR is streaming on Apple TV+.Â
