BRIDGERTON S3E5-8  PART TWO SERIES REVIEW 😊

BRIDGERTON ended its third season “Dearest Readers” quite neatly while tying up loose ends about the romance of Penelope, Colin, and Francesca. It was a fun rom-com with all the ups and downs of young love. This reviewer though wanted more hot, lusty scenes, but alas, they were talky episodes with too many characters popping up everywhere.

For me, after having read all the BRIDGERTON books, I was a tad disappointed. I adored this series in the past, but the writers took on too much content. Audiences really don’t need to know every detail about the Ton residents. The beautiful entertainment in the past and the novels came from the intimate details of each coupling. Yes, it is necessary to have outrageous costumes, balls, carriage rides, and wigs. But viewers love the audacity of the gossip and blatant sex. I needed more especially compared to the first season.

I did enjoy Colin and Pen’s “first.” This was “feather” worthy. Butterflies at the ball were phenomenally breathtaking, while the Queen’s hair was hilariously, wonderfully creative. There must be an invisible wire to help hold her head up high. The color choices for the characters were too in-your-face and blatant. I get it…red is for Jezebel and power. It did bother me how far off the beaten path the story was driven until it all came back together in time for marketing Season 4 which will feature Benedict and probably Eloise’s journey to love and marriage sometime in 2026. I sincerely hope they don’t age too much.

The writers threw all sorts of modern tropes into the final episode. Women do need to find their power and not be invisible. The “wall” does not compliment anyone. I do agree “one mistake cannot negate an entire relationship,” or “drinking an entire bottle is a cry for help.” True…true…true. But this was not the mentality of BRIDGERTON society. Gossip ruled, and “What’s a life without a little gossip?” Lady Whistledown (Dame Julie Andrews) always said it best even with a shaken voice.

Ahh…BRIDGERTON. I wanted to love and praise you, but I just couldn’t. I will still be watching when you return, with high hopes and my fan at ready. “There is so much in society that is unnatural, but the feeling between two people is most natural.” Please remember your words.

BRIDGERTON is streaming on Netflix.
