BABYGIRL is a somewhat entertaining erotic thriller with the same visual style as director Halina Reijn’s BODIES BODIES BODIES. While BODIES x3 was a buzzed-about horror film that deserved the hype, BABYGIRL doesn’t live up to those lofty expectations.
Most of the press on BABYGIRL is about Nicole Kidman’s daring performance. Yet, Antonio Banderas steals the spotlight from her. His work should remind audiences how he used to be such a draw for audiences.
Despite the two top-tier performances in this BDSM movie – I can’t help but wonder why this movie was made. The idea of a CEO wanting a particular type of sexual fantasy is fascinating. And if you are not into the sexualization on the screen, that type of story should work… in a romance novel.
It’s available in theaters now.
