ARNOLD is a three-part documentary about ARNOLD Schwarzenegger’s life. The writers divided each section into athlete, actor, and American. It does not shy away from his failures or mistakes. It is an honest depiction of a man who was driven, determined, and never satisfied with his achievements.
ARNOLD calls himself a visionary. “If you can dream it, you can do it.” He always looked to the next mountain peak. He did not like standing stagnant. His father ingrained the mantra into his being to “be useful.” ARNOLD never saw himself living in Austria, his birthplace, for his life. He always wanted to be an American. Some would call him “calculating and competitive, yet always magical.
This documentary allowed viewers an inside look at his body-building career through clips and interviews. The actor section was great fun seeing bits and pieces of his biggest hit movie roles. In both areas, ARNOLD was born to be the star. His background helped him tremendously during his political journey as Governor of California for seven years.
What I enjoyed the most was hearing ARNOLD’s insights into his life. He spoke about his fu**-ups within his marriage and life choices. He shared many devastating moments. It was a well-made, totally entertaining film. He wanted to dive into every nook and cranny he could and share it with his fans, even the ugly truths. I must admire that about the man. I learned a bunch about a legend who yearned to make a difference in the world. ARNOLD demonstrated that in spades. He is who he is…Cuban stogies and all. I am sure he still repeats his most famous movie line daily. “I’ll be back.” This makes me chuckle since he just premiered his latest series, FUBAR. ARNOLD is indeed not done yet.
ARNOLD is available to stream on NETFLIX.
