There’s a lot to love about the animated short film AN OSTRICH TOLD ME THE WORLD IS FAKE AND I THINK I BELIEVE IT (ironically, long title), but I ultimately felt like I’d seen it before. Yet, it does nestle well into stories about simulations and alternate realities, so if you’re a fan of the subgenre, give this one a shot.
The stop-motion animation style, goofy, loveable characters, and the “fake world” feel like THE OFFICE meets THE LEGO MOVIE. It’s darkly comedic but not funny enough to make me laugh out loud – at most, I breathed out pretty hard through my nose.
When you have 11 minutes, check out AN OSTRICH TOLD ME THE WORLD IS FAKE AND I THINK I BELIEVE IT. It’s currently playing in select theaters as part of the ShortsTV Oscar Nominated Short Films collection.
