AMERICAN SYMPHONY is an intimate, extraordinary documentary about the brilliant Jon Batiste. It features spectacular snippets about his music process and his wife, the best-selling author Suleika Jaouad. It is a joyful, poignant, bittersweet picture of a complicated man and his life. 

During the filming of this insightful film, three major forks arrived along Jon’s journey. His wife’s cancer returned. He was asked to compose an AMERICAN SYMPHONY for a concert at the historic Carnegie Hall. He was nominated for eleven Grammys. Profound life-changing events took their toll on Jon’s perspective and emotional strength. Listening to him and Suleika maneuver through these moments was fervent. His mantra of always saying, “Be you!”  catapulted Jon into the stratosphere of genius. It was a privilege to simply be a part of his life by watching this film.

AMERICAN SYMPHONY was directed by Matthew Heineman. He was able to capture the essence and soul of Jon Batiste. “Music is art.” It shares the ecstasy of being in his presence.
