Everything is changing on ABBOTT ELEMENTARY. I am not sure it is for the show’s good, but each character is stretching their wings and accepting the importance of “moving forward.”
The writers, at times, are making some of the key players more like caricatures of their former selves. The dialogues feel pushy. There are several moments when I don’t believe what is happening. I love the series best when they teach. Sheryl Lee Ralph, as Barbara, had a few sparkling moments tempering to put the fun in the fundamentals of music but went too far over the top for such an experienced educator. Sigh…
ABBOTT ELEMENTARY is at a fork in the road. It used to be great TV viewing. Now, not as much. It rates a meh from me, and that is disappointing. Should the series be renewed? Besides “Boston Rob,” I hope the studio execs are listening.
ABBOTT ELEMENTARY is streaming on ABC.
