56 DAYS SERIES REVIEW 😊-

56 DAYS is a mystery thriller chocked full of romantic, lusty moments. It is a series based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s best selling novel. It is an interesting adaption, but does veer off from the original book. It is a very messy story that could and should have been better.

The problems rest with the writing and editing. The emotional arcs never attained their full force to keep audiences totally engaged at all times. It was a hit and miss kind of action and reaction. I wanted more layers to be exposed. When the actors were allowed to let go, were the most suspenseful and had me in their pocket of intrigue. I binge-watched for three days, Not 56) because I wanted to know what the  DNA told the detectives in the end. After all that waiting, it was rather low-key and predictable.

I did enjoy performances by Detectives Reardon and Connolly. Their partnership was fascinating. Their yin/yang characters got my attention every time they appeared on screen. Their portrayals seemed authentic as flawed, humans who happen to be cops working the system the best way they could to survive another day.

Oliver also had his moments as well, besides being gorgeous to look at. Those eyes…that hair…holy cow, but I think his time with Ciara held him back. She was way too stiff facially. Maybe that was intentional, but sexy, hot scenes require much more. (at least for me)

56 DAYS seemed to be all over the place. It was just okay…something audiences might want to watch, but only on a slow night of viewing choices. It is streaming on Amazon Prime.
